Races for Braces!
Dear Community Partner:
Imagine a childhood full of beatings, guns, drugs, neglect, and more. Foster-Parents struggle to help foster-youth overcome the effects of a violent, frightening, and often lonely childhood. Some youth succeed but most do not. As I Can was founded in honor of foster-youth, Jerald Asican, who tragically drowned last year before he was able to fulfill his dream of helping other foster-youth reach the goal of becoming happy, productive adults. As I Can is a leg-up for youth in need to gain confidence.
The 1st annual “Races for Braces” 5k/10k/1k kids run is one of the ways to raise funds for the purchase of braces for youth in need who have been denied treatment by Medi-Cal. The scenic run along the levees of Lathrop and exciting grounds at the new Lathrop Ballpark, Islanders Field, where friends and families will spend an afternoon of celebration in memory of Jerald Asican, is a beautiful way to showcase their businesses.
As I Can is seeking the support of our local business community to help us achieve the goal of putting braces on youth in need.
